For the purposes of this document the following terms and definitions apply.
Term Definition Vector Engine (VE) The core part of the SX-Aurora TSUBASA, on which applications are executed. A VE is implemented as a PCI Express card and attached to an x86/Linux server. Vector Host (VH) A server to which VEs are attached, in other words, a host computer equipped with VEs. Scalar Host A server in scalar clusters. Host A VH, a VE or a scalar host. Vector Process MPI process on VE. Scalar Process MPI process on VH or Scalar Host. NQSV A job scheduler for the SX-Aurora TSUBASA. NQSV request execution Program execution using NQSV. PBS Job scheduler by Altair Engineering, Inc. PBS Professional is the commercial version and OpenPBS is its open source version. PBS request execution Program execution using PBS Professional or OpenPBS. VE number An identification number of a VE. VE numbers of VEs attached to a VH are consecutive integer values starting at 0. VH name The hostname of a VH, which is a host computer. logical VE number An identification number of a VE in the NQSV request execution. Logical VE numbers are consecutive integer values starting at 0. logical VH number An identification number of a VH in the NQSV request execution. Logical VH numbers are consecutive integer values starting at 0. MPI daemon A process that creates and manages MPI processes on each VH.
